The Love of all our Lives - Jacob Arthur Peter Gough

Was born 3rd November, 2006.........................and what a joy he is to me and Pete ! He has got us through some difficult times, by making us laugh and love him more than anything we've loved before.
Jacob was diagnosed with Autism approximately 4 months ago. He has a long journey ahead of him so I thought I'd start this journal of his ups and downs along his way.

I think we always knew Jacob had a problem,(by some of his actions) but you say to yourself........"No, were just imagining it".
Jacob has always been delayed in sitting up, walking, speaking/communicating etc.............but this was more noticeable around the age of 2.
So Jessica decided to take him to the family Doctor and ask him his opinion on lack of speech.
Jacob was refereed to a Paediatrician, whom tested in office and immediately diagnosed Autism.
This started the ball rolling ........ one of our first contacts were Autism Niagara. http://www.autismontario.com/niagara What an awesome bunch of people are at the Niagara branch.
We have taken a few seminars, and will be taking up and coming courses to help Jacob with communication and social skills.
This blog will be in no sort of order but just my thoughts as I think of them or as special things happen in Jacobs life.
Today we went to the Niagara children's centre for an interview for the "more than words" program for us adilts to help Jabob with his communication. He did very well, made good eye contact and even said (prounced properly) a couple of new words.
The counsellor was very impressed with him as we were very proud as well.

He came back home and visited with "Granddad" and watched a couple of his favourite video's on the computer.......................this morning was a great sucess for jacob.
